Pomegranate

The pomegranate (Punica Granatum in Latin) was originated in an area between Iran and Northern India expanding afterwards to the rest of the continents. The pomegranate has a  very varied germplasm and a diverse phenotype.
From a commercial point of view, (as for matters of size, flavour and colour)we may offer pomegranates for each type of market, as there are early, middle and late the harvest times, and a wide range of calibres.

Wonderful variety


It is the most required variety demanded by the markets, and the most highly apprised by customers since it is a big fruit (500 gr average weight), red on the outside and white on the inside, bittersweet and juicy arils, medium seeds, with a high concentration of antioxidants and high Brix content.

Gastronomic Uses


Due to its particular flavour and consistency as well as its attractive colour, the pomegranate arils can be defined as a Gourmet Product used and recommended by specialized cooks specially in the preparation of salads and desserts.

Medicinal Uses

Pomegranate is a fruit rich in Vitamin C, providing our body with around 16% of our daily needs (in every100 ml).It is also a good source of Vitamin B5, natural phenols, potassium and Vitamins E, A, and folic acid.Pomegranate juice helps to reduce LDL cholesterol levels (“bad” cholesterol) because of its antioxidant properties.Drinking this fruit juice could reduce prostate cancer progression.It is also considered to be beneficial for other types of cancer.It is thought that these effects can be caused by the presence of tannin polyphenols and anthocyanins which play an important role in killing cancer cells.
